Angelita De la Luz PhD has spent 10+ years managing pollination across 12 crops in 6 countries, working with hundreds of growers, from small family farms to global producers. She holds an MS from UC San Diego and a PhD from UC Santa Cruz. She recently served as the Global Pollination Expert for a leading agricultural biotech company. Since founding APIS, she now consults for some of the largest berry and tree fruit producers in the world.

APIS draws on our own applied experience and published research as well as advisory relationships with Washington State University, the USDA Honey Bee Lab, and UC Davis Ag Extension. Every standard behind this certification is grounded in current pollination research and field-tested practice.

Healthy pollination is great for your farming business. Most pollination certifications feel disconnected from that, focused on habitat and land set-asides rather than what actually happens on a working farm. APIS is different: it's built around the daily agronomic decisions that most directly affect pollination outcomes, spray timing, IPM practices, hive management, and water access. That makes certification accessible to growers who can't dedicate acreage to habitat, and focused on what actually drives your yield.

APIS certification recognizes what you already do to manage pollination, and offers an achievable roadmap for what's next.

Every farm is unique, and budgets are real. Instead of a one-size-fits-all requirement, our program allows you to choose which practices to put in place across the categories weighted by their actual impact on pollinator health.

Clean Water Sources: Accessible, maintained water near bloom
Applications: Timing, product choice, bee-friendly substitutions
IPM Practices: Threshold-based, not calendar-based, decisions
Hive Management: Placement, communication, entrance health
Pollinator Habitat: Dedicated habitat and/or forage for pollinators
Alternative Pollinator Presence: Native bees, mason bees, or other pollinators beyond managed hives
